We were again joined by Lyn. We left the cars at the Park and Ride and took the bus into the city. The bus drivers were friendly, and one gave Ruby a treat. We had to run for the bus going back. We had coffee in the Cathedral on the approach to the Palace Green before the start. There were lots of rowers training on the river and keeping warm. Several canoeists were out as well with one doing a litter pick. Several of our group missed a turn off and had to be recalled by phone. We passed the Department of Particle Phenomenology. We had lunch on the lawn in front of Grey Hall of Residence. The tables were on a slope and covered with permafrost. We also discovered the location of the Botanic Gardens. We returned along the bank of the river, sheltered and warm with good views of the parkland opposite and its bandstand, and the Cathedral and Castle behind. We had drinks at the Boathouse restaurant after the walk. Wildlife: Swans, robin, jay, goosander.
