Comments

Probably the best attended Boxing Day walk for some time. Conditions were firm with no mud. "Well-led by a decisive leader" said the leader!! Ruby scented deer but couldn't find any.

We followed the Fairy Trail at the start – passing the fire station, school, watermill, some dwellings, and various other buildings. There were several sculptures on the route, some carved out of wood, e.g bat, otter, badger, beetle – other from twigs e.g robin, mouse, fox, deer.

Our lunch break was at Stables Café, with tables and chairs provided. We visited Santa’s office and the Bug Museum afterwards. Ruby had the chance to do zoomies in the dog area.

The route dropped down to the riverside along a a pleasant path, which then climbed up to the avenue of trees which gave a good view of the liberty statue.

We indulged in a tea and coffee stop at the end.

Wildlife: Two jays, moorhen, lots of mallards.

Meal

Bridge End Inn, Ovingham. Nice Italian food, friendly service.
