Comments

The walk contained at least three hills despite only one being advertised. The ground was very dry. We had our lunch beside the viaduct. There were lots of trains passing, and Bernie waved at them.

We saw the new station at Greenrigg, the current east end of the Alnwick railway. Bernie took a shortcut back to Alnmouth Station to catch the train. There were good views all round, especially of Alnmouth from the coastal path. We spotted three kite-surfers as we came back into Alnmouth.

Wildlife: Lots of ducks - mallards and shelducks. There was a very young family of seven mallard ducklings with parents on the river under the viaduct. Greylag geese, cormorant, oystercatchers, two pied wagtails, pheasants, and a hare. Small pony, lots of sheep but no lambs.

Meal

New Rendezvous Chinese Restaurant, Ponteland. We were joined by Dorothy and Evelyn, and we were pleased to have a round table which made conversation easier. Good meal.
