There was a problem finding the path up to the reservoir, as the gate was hidden by trees. The reservoir was flat calm, but there were one or two fishermen out in boats. We were passed by three cars on a rough track tour. We had lunch sitting on a dry bank. Michael and Michelle did a shorter walk, missing out going to Throckrington. There was a nice country church at Throckrington, which was sitting on a hillock. It was difficult to locate the path from Brecken Hill to Colwell on the final stretch, but we managed to complete the walk in daylight. Wildlife/Flora: longtailed tits, white geese, colacers, murmuration of starlings, flock of fieldfares, cormorants. Red mushrooms. |
