Joined by Alan. There were interesting houses in a Scandinavian style at Amble Harbour, with three or four storeys with sloping roofs. They had Tuscan brown walls with turquoise panels and dark roofs. We saw a lobster hatchery. There was an unusual spire-like cemetery gate in Amble. We also saw industrial pipework and buildings on the beach. We had our lunch on the shore, on the rocks and in the sun. Our second break was at Hauxley Nature Reserve. There was a brick tree at the entrance, about 10ft tall with holes for small birds to nest at the top. There were lots of dogs and dog walkers, including a group of eight huskies. We lost Ruby for a few minutes, while she chatted with two ladies at a car park. The tide was very high at the end of the walk. Wildlife: Several huge flocks of geese, two swans flying, crows, two moorhens, oyster catcher, curlews, redshank, sandpipers, robins, heron, turnstones, brambling, cormorant. |

Rialto’s, Ponteland. Nice food - a little problem with service which was well compensated for.
