The car park in the large Craster Quarry was expensive at £8.50 for the day. It was an impressive walk along the coast with very high waves breaking and creating large mists above the waves. People were playing on the golf course despite a lot of water lying on the surface of the ground. We managed to eat lunch whilst sitting on three benches in the Low Newton grassy square in front of the Ship inn. There were lots of waders to observe from the Low Newton hide, then an easy walk back via a concrete path back to the car park. Wildlife: Lots of birds including: oystercatchers, flocks of lapwing, ringed plovers, sanderling, Canada geese, one shag, pochard, eider ducks, pintails mallards and greylag geese. In addition there were two horses, a family of rabbits, a large dead trout on the beach and a dead hare in a hedge. |
