Michael and Michelle - buying and selling houses |
Two and a half years too late for the pub at Catten - only dry part of the entire walk. The Cupola Bridge attracted some comments. Every stile produced some obstacle, e.g. nettles, lakes etc. Red fungi. Gate with no walls attached. Saw a flashing septic tank. There was an inadvertent building and a permissive path. Heidi found love in the mist. Lots of raspberries (which we sampled), harebells, and many dead trees across the river. Long, steep climb at the end. Wildlife: Lots of dead pheasants en route. Live pheasants as well on the walk. Two short-eared owls, lots of live rabbits, and a dead rabbit outside the closed pub (it died of thirst). Beth held a burial service for a dead rabbit. Saw a blindfolded horse, and a small horse. Lots of angry wasps at the lunch spot (obviously they couldn't find the pub), and a miniature frog at the afternoon tea stop. Various butterflies: peacocks, whites, fritillaries, and painted ladies. A black dog with an enormous tongue. GG and Carol's Saga walk: Route - Carts Bog - Langley Dam - Plankey Mill - Hagwoods - Carts Bog. Not too wet underfoot. Very warm and sticky. Lots of signs saying "Bulls in fields", but no bulls, only cows and bullocks to negotiate. Some steep sections. Wildlife: wren, 3 hares, 3 goats, field full of crows, ducks. |
Evening meal - MEAL OF THE YEAR 2004 Carts Bog. 17 in attendance, as we were joined by Carol and GG, and Michelle and Mike. Heidi nearly beat Ashley in finishing her pudding. |
