The walk was put back from the Saturday until the Tuesday to take advantage of better weather. As the walk was local, we started at 2pm. The weather was sunny at first, but clouded over towards the end and we were lucky to get back to the cars before it started raining. We could see rain-laden clouds approaching fast. Distance: about 7 miles. The going was still muddy in parts after heavy rain the previous weekend. There was a fine parish church at Stannington, and some nice big houses. Ruby chased and nearly caught a hare. We stopped at the entrance to the former St Mary’s Hospital for a cup of tea. |
