Comments

Stiff initial climb, relatively sheltered lunch spot with good view of St Mary's Loch. Good view of the snow-covered hills to the north from the ridge. Met a party of lost schoolgirls. Lots of tadpoles. Julie took a sample in her water bottle. Timings exact - arrived at Tibbie Shiels pub exactly on time. Nice cat in the pub, but it scratched Sandy.

Collected Evelyn at the pub and walked along the east side of the loch back to the cars (Southern Upland Way). Strange signs on rocks by the loch side. Funny wooden objects holding cables into the loch. The loch was very choppy - saw a few fishermen and some dinghy sailors hoisting a red sail. Saw a newly born lamb and a big brown bull.

Wildlife: Oystercatchers, chaffinches, buzzards, rabbits, and lots of pheasants.

Evening meal

Tushielaw Inn. Nice meal.
