Comments

There was good visibility, and we could see as far as the high rise flats in Gateshead.

At some dog kennels, we were chased by a Rhodesian ridgeback, which Sandy told to go away. Ruby caught a pheasant for the first time. There were lots of bell-ringing cyclists on Waskerley Way.

We found a sheltered lunch spot behind a wall, and we took a tea stop by the reservoir. Waskerley Church was closed. Waskerley Station Farm had a blue and yellow flower on the gate and two old Fordson tractors in the yard.

Wildlife etc:

Very tame and furtive goldcrest, wagtail, oystercatcher, red grouse, pheasants, lapwings harassing a red kite, robin, curlew, blackbird, sparrows, two noisy geese, meadow pipits.

Newly born lambs, horses, pony and donkeys, two deer. Lots of daffodils and primroses. Gorse on the railway line.

Meal

Red Kite Inn, Winlaton – nice pub food with very friendly service
