Comments | The walk started three minutes early. Residents on the western edge of Wooler were trapped in their homes by the Gas Board. There was a stag at the entrance to the holiday park. It was very icy underfoot. George fell but wasn't really hurt. There were several gliders airborne from Millfield. It wasn't possible to see the top of Cheviot because of snow showers. Some hills were still green while others were snow-covered. The backward half followed St. Cuthbert’s Way, where the snow was quite deep on the first part, interspersed with boggy bits. We met lots of dog walkers as we neared Wooler including two four-month-old boxer twins. Our second stop was just in the trees. We saw some ornate gardens as we came back into Wooler. There were attractive Christmas lights in the High Street. Wildlife/flora: Grouse, 2 buzzards, several robins, cockerels, 4 Mallard ducks, assorted other ducks, including one that posed for its photo on a fence. Sheep that looked like pigs. Horses with coats on. |

Meal | Border Minstrel. Joined by Evelyn. Six people out of eight had tomato soup. Very noisy with party-goers.
