Comments

A fairly flat walk of just over nine miles. The going was mainly firm with some muddy patches. It was well-navigated.

The start at Newbiggin-by-the-sea was busy due to the arrival of a funeral cortege, led by a horse-drawn Brewer’s Dray serving as a hearse.

We passed the old aluminium work. The route goes through quite a bit a derelict industrial land.

There were some expensive homes in Ellington. We had lunch in the woods of Ellington Dene. Coming out of the woods we passed very close to a wind turbine, from which the noise was annoying.

There were kids on noisy motorbikes on Newbiggin Moor.

Everyone we met was friendly.

Fauna and flora: several mallard ducks, heron, wren, skylark, blackbird, bluetits, cormorants on the rocks. Shaggy ponies in field.

Meal

New Rendezvous in Ponteland. Joined by Evelyn and Dorothy. Not as good as in our previous visits - maybe we just made some poor choices.
