A fairly flat walk of just over nine miles. The going was mainly firm with some muddy patches. It was well-navigated. The start at Newbiggin-by-the-sea was busy due to the arrival of a funeral cortege, led by a horse-drawn Brewer’s Dray serving as a hearse. We passed the old aluminium work. The route goes through quite a bit a derelict industrial land. There were some expensive homes in Ellington. We had lunch in the woods of Ellington Dene. Coming out of the woods we passed very close to a wind turbine, from which the noise was annoying. There were kids on noisy motorbikes on Newbiggin Moor. Everyone we met was friendly. Fauna and flora: several mallard ducks, heron, wren, skylark, blackbird, bluetits, cormorants on the rocks. Shaggy ponies in field. |

New Rendezvous in Ponteland. Joined by Evelyn and Dorothy. Not as good as in our previous visits - maybe we just made some poor choices.
