We were joined by Stephen who brought dogs Molly and Morag along as company for Ruby. There were free hot drinks and apple pies at Andrews House Station before the train departure. Four dogs and eight humans squeezed into the compartment of the six-wheeled coach of the 1155 express. The fourth dog was a large friendly golden retriever called Loki. The train went northwards, first to Sunniside, then came back to its southern terminus at East Tanfield. There were lots of tractors of all types, ages and sizes collected in a nearby yard. Snow was visible on Cheviot. We had a pleasant but uneventful walk back to Andrews Station Car Park. We ate our lunch on the platform at Causey Arch. We tried to get into the Causey Arch Inn for an after-walk drink but it was full up with two shooting parties. We went by a devious route to the Potter’s Wheel at Sunniside instead, which had interesting clientele. Wildlife: The wildlife was keeping out of the cold. One buzzard sighted. |

Blackbird, Ponteland. Joined by Evelyn. Nice ambience, very tasty food. Service staff were pleasant and helpful, although the food was a bit slow in coming. George enjoyed his soil.
