Most of the proceedings were recorded on video by Michael. There were some problems uploading it to this website, but it may appear at a future date. Beth went for a paddle at Tyne Green. There were a lot of people in canoes, including three Canadian canoes heading downstream. A considerable number of people were out walking off the excesses of the previous day and exercising their dogs. We had our lunch at the Meeting of the Waters. We then proceeded along the south bank before crossing the South Tyne to Bridge End. We took refreshment outside the Boatside Inn - Sandy had a sherry and we watched some locals playing quoits. We returned to Hexham along the side of the railway before climbing up past the golf course (there was a Romanian registered car in the car park - trying to beat the rush of immigrants, perhaps.) We walked through the park, where we were nearly adopted by a very friendly dog. Our second stop was in the park beside the bandstand. We returned to the cars via the front of the Abbey. Wildlife: heron, goldeneyes, jay, ducks. |
